A celebration of the life of Garrett Robertson, 31, of Uvalde, Texas formerly of Athens will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens. Interment will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Malakoff under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home. William Garrett Robertson, "Garrett" or "Gee" to all that knew him, was born July 6, 1993 in Athens, Texas to Owen and Shelly Robertson. Garrett went to Heaven, Thursday February 27, 2025, at the age of 31. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Maci Robertson; daughter Emma Robertson; fluffy companion Copter; parents Owen and Shelly Robertson; brother Lyle Robertson, his wife Kyler and nephew Levi; brother Kyle Weatherford, his wife Katy and niece Kenly. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Mickey and Larry Surls and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Garrett was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Geraldine "Nana" Robertson, and paternal grandfather, L.O. Robertson. Garrett was fortunate to have the rare opportunity to live his dream, doing what he loved most—flying. After graduating from Cross Roads High School in 2012, he began his journey toward becoming a helicopter pilot. Garrett attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, with minors in Helicopter Operations Safety and Aviation Flight Safety. Along with his prestigious education, Garrett held multiple certifications, including Certified Flight Instructor, his Commercial Certificate, and a Second-Class Medical. Garrett's work took him all across the country, with time spent in Olathe, Kansas, at KC Copters, Total Traffic & Weather Network, Heartland Helicopters and Texas Specialty Helicopters (TSH). He eventually found his final home at Holt Helicopters in Uvalde, Texas. Those who knew Garrett knew without a doubt that his passion for flying was only matched by his love for his family. His dedication to both was unwavering, and he always made sure to share his joy for aviation with those closest to him. Garrett's greatest love, Maci, entered his life about seven years ago on the dancefloor at the San Angelo Rodeo. Neither of them knew that night that they had just met their future spouse, and it wasn't until fate brought them together again at an HEB gas station (of all places) that their story truly began. From that moment on, they were inseparable, and the love story that Garrett and Maci shared was a true testament to the power of time and destiny. The couple married on August 13, 2022, and their joy was expanded when they welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Emma Dawn Robertson, on October 26, 2023. The love Garrett had for his two girls was the kind of unconditional love that most people dream of but never experience. There wasn't a person who knew him who didn't see the depth of his love for them. It's a love that filled his heart and radiated in everything he did—a love that will never be forgotten. Garrett's warm spirit and ability to bring laughter to those around him made every moment spent with him truly special. Friends, colleagues, and loved ones treasured their time in the air, celebrating the thrill of flying together. His selflessness and humility left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. More than just an extraordinary pilot, Garrett was a mentor and a source of inspiration. His dedication to ranching and conservation reflected his love for the land and its stewardship. He approached his work with respect and enthusiasm, always eager to help others and share his knowledge. The outpouring of love from family, friends, and the community during this difficult time speaks volumes about the impact Garrett had on those around him. He will be missed dearly, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of Maci, Emma, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 7, 2025, at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church in Athens. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the Garrett Robertson Memorial Fund at the TXN Bank in Uvalde. Arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
