Shane Ray Trantham was born on January 12, 1970, in Athens, Texas to Cecil Ray and Linda Pace Trantham. He passed to his Heavenly home on December 23, 2024. Shane graduated from Huntsville High School in 1988 and shortly after graduation, moved to Athens to attend Trinity Valley Community College. Shane worked for the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler for several years and then went to work for Cudd Pumping Services. He enjoyed both jobs, but he was waiting for a job opening at the Texas Department of Transportation. When that opportunity became available, he became an inspector for TX Dot and worked there for 18 years. Shane was a member of Cook Springs Baptist Church before moving to Athens and enjoyed visiting churches in the Athens area. Shane was a wonderful cook, and he enjoyed gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed teaching others how to hunt, fish and track and identify animals. Shane loved to lend a helping hand or a listening ear- especially to his older friends. He often made himself available when they needed someone to visit and keep them company. Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Vivian Trantham of Colleyville, TX and Clyde and Margaret Pace of Athens, TX and one Aunt Terry Spence. Left to cherish his memory are his parents Cecil and Linda Trantham of Huntsville, TX, brother Shannon and wife Lori Trantham of Florida, brother Scott Trantham of Huntsville, TX, brother Stacy and wife Christina Trantham of Willis, TX, niece Stormie Trantham and nephew Lucas Trantham of Huntsville, nephew Charlie Trantham and niece Adeline Trantham of Florida and great niece Harlow King and great nephew Hudson King of Huntsville. He was also survived by many cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. The Pallbearers will be Shannon Trantham, Scott Trantham, Stacy Trantham, Gary Don Holder, Tony Owens, Ronny Spence, Greg Lake and Adam Lake. Honorary pallbearers will be Earnie Love, Greg and Todd Middleton and Kirk Ray. The family would like to thank Gary Don Holder, Dr. James Qualls, Dr. Shawn Tai and Dr. Seriani for their help and prayers through Shane's illnesses.
