September 11, 1944 - February 25, 2025 Peggy Leona Chaney Mitchell, 80, passed away on February 25, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1944, and spent many happy years in Canton and Athens, Texas. Peggy was preceded in death by her mother, Christine Littlejohn, and her second husband, Charles D. Mitchell. She is survived by her children, Jeff Robinson and Brenda Smutzer; their spouses, Katherine O'Brien and Russell Smutzer; and her beloved grandchildren, Doro Robinson, Matilda Robinson, Caleb Smutzer, and Zackary Smutzer. Throughout her life, Peggy was known for her lovely smile, kind heart, and generous spirit. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in her family and the communities she called home. Her gentle presence and warmth touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial will be placed in Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas, where her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
