Cambridge South station is set to open in early 2026 with a comprehensive timetable that will see every passing service call from day one, Network Rail and operators have confirmed. Located adjacent to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the four-platform station is forecast to handle around 1.8 million passengers annually. This will include up to nine trains per hour linking Cambridge South with Cambridge, southbound. Northbound, Cambridge South will benefit from between three and five trains per hour to Ely. CrossCountry will call hourly, adding a stop on its Birmingham New Street – Stansted Airport service, while Greater Anglia will contribute an hourly off-peak service to Norwich.
