The historic Chapel Milton viaduct on the Great Rocks freight line in the Peak District has been given a new lease of life following the completion of major strengthening works. Known as one of the region’s most photographed railway landmarks, the Chapel Milton viaduct — and its twin structure — play a crucial role in transporting building materials from the nearby quarries further along the Great Rocks line near Buxton across the UK. The £7.5 million investment included vital repairs to brickwork, void-filling across each arch span, and parapet reinforcement. Working closely with Network Rail and our supply chain partners, we delivered these improvements safely, on time, and with strong support from the local community.”
