Freightliner’s UK intermodal business is to be acquired by French logistics firm CMA CGM.
The purchase of Freightliner UK Intermodal Logistics is expected to be completed in early 2026, with the other Freightliner businesses (Heavy Haul, Rotterdam Rail Feeding, and Freightliner Poland/Germany) remaining under existing ownership.
CMA CGM Chairman and Chief Executive, Rodolphe Saadé, said the acquisition will enable the firm to strengthen its UK presence and enable the firm to “connect sea, rail and road more efficiently”.
A Freightliner statement said: “This acquisition underlines CMA CGM’s ambition to build a sustainable and competitive transport offering in Europe.
“The Intermodal business will become a stand-alone business within CMA CGM’s portfolio, with opportunities to collaborate with other arm’s length CMA CGM companies.
