Topline results were announced from a phase 3 trial evaluating tirzepatide in pediatric patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) inadequately controlled with metformin, basal insulin, or both.
In the pediatric trial, 99 participants were randomly assigned to receive once-weekly subcutaneous injections of tirzepatide (up to 5mg or 10mg) or placebo.
Change in HbA1c: tirzepatide pooled doses: -2.0%; placebo: -0.2%.
Percentage of patients achieving HbA1c of less than or equal to 6.5%: tirzepatide 5mg: 66.4%; tirzepatide 10mg: 80.6%; placebo: 28.2%.
Percentage change in BMI: tirzepatide 5mg: -6.7%; tirzepatide 10mg: -11.1%; placebo: -0.55%.
