Richard Lynn Butner, was born March 16, 1947 in Iowa Point, Kansas in his grandparents’ house, the first of three boys to Laurence (Jeff) and Opal (Tilton) Butner. Richard was at Fort Carson, Colorado and came home on leave before he left for Germany and proposed to Glenda. Richard was preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Opal Butner; and a brother Larry Butner. A celebration of Richard’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland. Interment will follow with military honors a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard and Atchison Funeral Honors Team, at the Highland Cemetery.
