Cal Raleigh made history on Saturday night. In the third inning of the Seattle Mariners' matchup with the Houston Astros, Raleigh surpassed Mariners legend Ken Griffey Jr. for the most home runs in a single season in franchise history by recording his 57th homer of the year. The previous record of 56 home runs was set by Griffey in 1997 before he accomplished the same feat in 1998. Raleigh tied the Mariners' record during a 12-5 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday and also became the first switch-hitter in MLB history to compile more than 55 homers in a single season. He previously set the single-season record for the most home runs by a primary catcher with 49 on Aug. 24.
