Stephanie Vaquer defeated Iyo Sky at WWE Wrestlepalooza on Saturday to win the Women's World Championship for the first time. At Evolution back in July, Vaquer won a star-studded battle royal to earn a Women's World Championship match at Clash in Paris. Raw general manager Adam Pearce informed Vaquer that her title match at Clash in Paris was off, but he later announced a new location and opponent in the form of Vaquer vs. Sky at Wrestlepalooza. While Vaquer held the NXT Women's Championship and Women's North American Championship simultaneously during her relatively short run in NXT, Wrestlepalooza represented her first opportunity to win singles gold on the main roster. Meanwhile, Sky entered Wrestlepalooza having already held the Women's World Championship and WWE Women's Championship one time each in her career.
