She started the Artpop sessions when edm was beginning to hit the mainstream but the album took so long to come out edm was on it's way out and the newer more analog/organic discoish sound pharrell and daft punk are pushing is on it's way in. It's simply a case of bad timing. Vol. 2 will be more of the same and it will perform just as badly if not worse.
