The Legal and Treaties Division is charged with advising on matters of international and domestic law and serves as a safeguard to ensure that decisions taken in the advancement of Guyana’s Foreign Policy are legally sound. The Division advises on the negotiation, acceptance and implementation of regional and international treaties, memoranda of understanding and contracts which the Government of Guyana is or intends to become Party to. The Legal and Treaties Division supports the work of every other department within the Ministry and has oversight of the Re-migration Unit.
