This is very well written, although I think it suffers from failing to discuss Europe's role in American withdrawal. The Europeans have spent decades ruining their reputation, and now that we are finally reprioritizing accordingly, their response is to get more aggressive in pushing us away. There's no shortage of ways they could recommit to the alliance and keep us engaged, but instead the Europeans seem intent on pushing the United States out of NATO.
