As we mark Hazing Prevention Week from Sept. 22-27, it is a crucial time for reflection and action across our nation’s campuses. It is against this backdrop that the University of San Diego’s decision to join the Hazing Prevention Consortium marked a turning point. Since 2014, 36 colleges and universities have participated in the consortium, including UC San Diego. Guided by a data-driven Hazing Prevention Framework, the consortium partnership will equip USD with proven methods and contribute vital knowledge to the currently limited research base on effective hazing prevention. While joining the Hazing Prevention Consortium is a powerful first step, true systemic change requires tangible, actionable commitments to transparency and accessible reporting.
