Meningococcal meningitis commonly presents as a nervous system infection or as a blood infection. The latter form of the disease is more severe, and the syndrome of this infection was described as Weil’s disease. Infection with Clostridium difficile occurs when the deadly bacteria overwhelm the normal bacteria in the gut of a person.
