Oregon Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden and his wife, Nancy Bass Wyden, arrive for a state dinner at the White House in 2015. O’Brien worked as a personal assistant for Bass Wyden from June of 2022 to September of 2024 and frequently helped take care of Wyden’s and Bass Wyden’s children. Maltezos alleges in the lawsuit that Bass Wyden falsely accused O’Brien of theft and credit card fraud as a means of retaliation. He says Bass Wyden spread “false rumors and defamatory statements” about O’Brien that interfered with his employment opportunities. The lawsuit accuses Bass Wyden of creating a hostile work environment, gender discrimination and wrongful death.
