The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with the Government of Lesotho, launched the 2025 Human Development Report (HDR) on 6 August, marking a significant step in advancing the country’s efforts to integrate technology and innovation into its human development agenda.
During the launch, Minister of Finance and Development Planning Dr. Retselisitsoe Matlanyane highlighted Lesotho’s journey since the first Global Human Development Report in 1990.
She noted that Lesotho has produced three national Human Development Reports focusing on areas such as human security, poverty reduction, food security, and youth empowerment.
She stressed that in an increasingly AI-driven world, the ability to make choices remains fundamental to human development.
The 2025 Human Development Report provides a comprehensive roadmap for building human, institutional, and regulatory capacity to ensure that AI benefits everyone.
