I got caught in a comical situation as I tried to wire funds to Manyan Debid once during continued difficulties in South Sudan. Today, he is a working journalist in South Sudan, still bravely facing the forces who would like to take South Sudan, and all its oil wealth, and destroy the existence of South Sudan. And most Americans don’t even know South Sudan exists.
