A tribute to Supertramp co-founder Rick Davies, by db Infusion’s Gonzalo CarreraRick was the lead singer, composer and keyboardist for Supertramp, born in Swindon on 22 July 1944 and, sadly, died in New York on 6 September. A fellow keyboardist and leader of my favourite band, I was devastated to hear the news next day confirmed by my friend, Supertramp sax player, John Helliwell (pictured far left in the photo, me far-right, Rick third-right). In 1977, aged seven, I discovered via my older brothers’ record collection that year’s Supertramp masterpiece, Even In The Quietest Moments. I met Rick, John, Bob and many new friends through the band, including Andy Andrew, Rick’s pal since 1966, and bandmate in The Lonely Ones. My deep condolences go to Supertramp and their friends and fans, and especially to Sue Davies, Rick’s wife.
