Organisation says the UK government could look to diverge from European proposals to accelerate switch away from using HFCs to better ensure training and skills concerns are addressedTrade group BESA has called on the UK Government to heed industry concerns about European proposals to reform the F-Gas Regulations and the phasedown of HFCs. BESA technical director Graeme Fox said the proposed amendments could dramatically impact the adoption of heat pump systems nationally if they were mirrored by UK authorities. Considering these skills and training challenges, Mr Fox said the UK Government should be pragmatic when thinking about its own longer-term aims for reforming F-Gas regulations. The UK currently mirrors the EU’s own F-Gas Regulations but could chose to apply future regulations and secludes differently under the terms of the Brexit withdrawal agreement. BESA, which manages the UK-based F-Gas register REFCOM, said that there was now potential for the country’s authorities to take their own approach to F-Gas.
