European authorities are now undertaking detailed discussions on the planned reforms of the F-Gas Regulation as it applies to the EU. FETA argued that the proposals reforms could risk prioritising the use of the lowest GWP refrigerants without considering their impact on the overall energy efficiency of a system. Mr Hughes added that the negotiation process and opportunities for industry to lobby for reforms was not over, despite the recent European Parliament vote. It has warned that an accelerated phasedown could also impact plans to increase heat pump installations nationally.
