To me, the saying that says "Do not speak evil of the dead" is an anomaly in this evil world. Let's call a spade a spade. I even beleived that the prayers we offer for the dead is nothimg but fruitless. The first of the 2 prayers offered by Obasanjo is completely useless as we cannot effectively pray for the dead. The Holy Books are clear about this, "It appointed unto man to die once, and after that judgement" However, in as much as we are call to call a spade, a spade, Obasanjo is very right in what he said about the dead man who became a senator in Nigeria. The incident remained an indelible mark on the integrity of Nigeria as a nation because the man refused to acknowledge his sins, used the manoeuver of law and politics to avoid justice as alleged but was unable to escape the manoeuver of death even as rich as he was. This is a lesson for all of us living. Be careful about the type of life you live so that when you die, people will have positive things and sayings about you.
