A Juneteenth Reflection During the Jubilee Year of HopeBy: Steven Nabieu Rogers, PhD, AFJN Executive DirectorToday, we celebrate Juneteenth, a significant day marking the emancipation of enslaved Africans in the United States. This year’s Juneteenth celebration holds profound significance in the United States, particularly in light of recent threats to the legacy of Black people. As we celebrate Juneteenth during this Jubilee year, we reaffirm our commitment to the values of justice, equality, and human dignity. For the Africa Faith and Justice Network (AFJN), Juneteenth is a significant day of reflection, celebration, and remembrance. Therefore, as we commemorate Juneteenth in this Jubilee year of hope, the Africa Faith and Justice Network reaffirms its commitment to creating a more just and equitable world.
