Shirley Jo Ellis, born on October 11, 1935, passed away on September 1, 2025, in Norman, Oklahoma. She was a cherished figure in her community, known for her dedication as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Shirley was a career woman ahead of her time. She spent over three decades as a supply and inventory manager at Tinker Air Base, where she was respected for her meticulousness and strong work ethic. Her commitment to her role supported numerous military operations and personnel throughout her career. She was a graduate of Wilson High School, which laid the foundation for her successful career. Shirley's life was marked by her devotion to her family and her profession. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Wayne Ellis; daughter, Susie Ward; grandson, Timothy Ellis; siblings Charles, James Don, Kenneth, and Hoyle Robertson, and her parents, Lillie and Jessie Robertson. She leaves behind a loving family including her children, Mark Ellis (Pat), Cara Dawn Wortham (Tommy) and son-in-law Mike Ward; grandchildren Tamara Dawn Watkins (Bob), Paul Mark Ellis (Katie), Jenny Atwell (Ryan), Scott Ward, Brad Manning (Shelby) and Carley Abbott (Sean); great-grandchildren Thomas Watkins, Scarlett Watkins, Henry Ellis, Sarah Atwell, Ethan Atwell, Easton Manning, Blayke Manning; and sister Charlesan Neugebauer. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, September 7, 3:00pm at The Venue at Freedom Farms, 4701 N. Porter Ave in Norman. Shirley's life was a testament to her enduring warmth and the deep connections she fostered with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
