Former Attorney General Terry Goddard’s campaign to ban anonymous “dark money” in Arizona elections is getting an early boost with several dozen paid petitioners to augment its aggressive volunteer effort. That campaign, like the current one, relied primarily on volunteer signature gatherers and used paid petitions to supplement their efforts. Outlaw Dirty Money is able to hire petitioners earlier in the campaign thanks to infusions of cash from two groups. Fight For Reform, a state-level project of the federal political action committee End Citizens United, which aims to limit money in politics, gave the campaign $100,000. And Voters’ Right to Know, a California-based group that supports transparency in campaign spending, contributed $50,000.
