Comment on Brave firemen fight big bush fire in fierce winds by Ronald Sams
[]
Comments for St Francis Chronicle
DVG and local St Francis Bay and Kouga Fire Services arrived and were supported by large bowsers from the Links.
Sea Vista people helped firemen hold and untangle ropes and hold water pipes of that were being offloaded from bakkies with water tankers.
Security force and traffic vehicles were in the vicinity and the road was blocked off in the section from the Stop Street at St Francis Drive to Meikles corner.
Fires were dying out from fire hoses but in at least three spots at one stage, fierce winds fanned the smouldering bushes up again soon afterwards.
It is unknown how the fire started but some Sea Vista onlookers said they believed it could be campers in the bush or a dropped cigarette.
