Protests planned in both Houston and Galveston this weekend will be part of a nationwide demonstration known as the 50501 Movement — a grassroots movement that has quickly spread since its inception online earlier this year. The 50501 movement stands for 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement. As the name suggests, the goal of the movement is to hold at least 50 protests in 50 states against what the organizers have characterized as the anti-democratic actions of President Donald Trump's administration — specifically, actions laid out in the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025.
