Daryl Blackburn was charged with six felonies last year following an investigation by then-District Attorney Kim Ogg and the Texas Rangers into alleged wrongdoing during the 2022 general election held in Harris County. A legal battle between the state and Harris County ensued for several months until the Texas Supreme Court ordered the county to abolish its election administrator's office. The county eliminated the office in August 2023, transferring its responsibilities to the Harris County Clerk and Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector.
