The result of sitting still seems to have been bad, though. The US just confirmed that even though we are not a shithole nation (sic) we apparently are enough of a shithole to get slapped with punitive tariffs, at least in the first run. Now we do not exactly export a lot of aluminium to the states - 0,2% of our total production (which is very clean, due to hydropower), I believe - but it sure looks like not being an EU member in this case is a problem.
