It seems certain now that Zelazny’s choice to have Snuff narrate A Night in the Lonesome October was inspired by Woolf having Flush narrate Flush: A Biography. For the six-volume The Collected Stories of Roger Zelazny from NESFA Press that he co-edited with Dave Grubbs and Ann Crimmins, Kovacs assembled all of Zelazny’s known published and unpublished stories, annotated the works to explain allusions and cryptic references, and gathered Zelazny’s own comments about individual stories from correspondence and interviews.
