The decision to increase dearness allowance under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions comes days after the Narendra Modi-led central government announced a 3 percent DA hike for employees and pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission. According to the Union Finance Ministry, central government employees and pensioners who are receiving salaries under the 5th Pay Commission, will receive a 8 percent DA hike, from 466 percent to 474 percent. The decision to increase dearness allowance under the 5th and 6th Pay Commissions comes days after the Narendra Modi-led central government announced a 3 percent DA hike for employees and pensioners under the 7th Pay Commission, benefiting around 49.19 lakh central government employees and 68.72 lakh pensioners.
