London’s best bookshops are as varied as the city’s literary history itself – and with spring just around the corner, now is the time to prep for “sitting in the park with a book” season. Lala Books, a cult independent bookshop just down from Theo’s pizza in Camberwell, sits firmly in the latter category. One for the cerebral among us: South London Gallery’s bookshop is a hidden and very aesthetically pleasing treasure trove, crammed with art-focussed, politically-minded and experimental books, zines and fiction.
