SALINE COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Felony charges have been filed in a fatal crash in Saline County. 21 year old Jacob Ahrens of Ridgway has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Involving Death, and two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs Involving Personal Injury. The crash happened just before 2am on August 8th when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound on IL-34 near Galatia, drove off the roadway and into a ditch. The driver and one passenger were airlifted to a regional hospital with injuries. A second passenger, 20-year-old Mattix Sandifer of Ridgway was pronounced deceased on scene.
