Julia Louisa Lovejoy, was the deeply religious wife of a Methodist Episcopal minister, and an ardent abolitionist. Julia's family traveled to Kansas Territory in 1855, under the auspices of the New England Emigrant Aid Company. Excerpts from the diary she kept on the journey give an unrelenting account of the hardships her family endured.
