Leeds U21s arrive at the VBS sitting eighth in Premier League 2, with six points from their opening three games. They kicked off the season in style, claiming an emphatic 3-0 away win at Aston Villa, led by captain Alfie Cresswell and a brace from in-form forward Harry Gray. Despite a narrow 3-2 defeat to Ipswich Town in their second outing, the young Whites responded well with a gritty 2-1 victory over Burnley. Louie Dudley and Gray were on target again, the latter scoring a clever backheel to seal the win.
