Among the greatest defects in Schneider’s catechism is his misleading statements about the nature of man created in the image and likeness of God, a question that is also closely related to the understanding of God as Father of all of mankind, as well as the innate dignity and fraternity of all human beings. With regard to the fundamental natural dignity of every human person, the Catechism of the Catholic Church quotes St. Catherine of Sienna affirming that our dignity arises from the same natural principles that make us an image of God, which would imply a fundamental equality of dignity at the natural level of our being.
