Vernon E. "Vern" Craven, 67, of Frewsburg, N.Y., went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Meadville, PA, to the late William and Bettye (VanSlyke) Craven, Vern was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He retired in 2015 after a long career in the telephone industry and was a member of Zion Covenant Church in Jamestown, N.Y. He will be remembered for his faith, love of the outdoors, and dedication to family. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (McLane) Craven; daughters Jennifer (Andrew) Nelson and Autumn (Brian) Hagberg; six grandchildren, Caleb, Anna, Tyler, Makena, Caitlin and Brielle; sister Christa (Jill Shaffer) Craven; brother Kenneth (Christina) Craven; and many nieces and nephews, one of whom calls him dad. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, from 2:30-4:30 PM at Zion Covenant Church, Jamestown, with a service to follow at 4:30 PM. Casual dress is encouraged.
