William (Bill) Hovis, 65 of Carlton, PA, passed on September 11, 2025, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1960, in Greenville, PA; a son of William Hovis and Carol Sullivan. Bill was a 1978 graduate of Cochranton High school and also was a graduate of Mercyhurst Northeast Nursing School. He was employed for 24 years with Northwest Burial Service and then 12 years with Meadville Medical Center as a registered nurse. Bill was also self-employed for 30 years in his business "Hall of Fame Concrete". Unbeknown to many, Bill was a very deep thinker. When he loved, he loved whole heartedly and deeply. He loved his kids and grandkids more than anything and was very proud of them. He stated, "I don't know how to show them how much I love them, but I hope they know." Bill loved playing softball with his friends. He also enjoyed archery hunting and looking for arrowheads. He was an avid dog lover and loved taking care of his yard. He was preceded in death by his mother Carol and stepfather William Sullivan, a brother Brian Armour and his dogs, Aziza, Ginger and Sheba. He is survived by his father William Hovis and stepmother Janet Hovis of Carlton; his children, Brandi (Dave) Hovis-Hagmaier of Meadville, PA, Dustin (Fallon) Hovis of Highlands, NC, Michael (Madison) James of Grove City, and Madison (Tanner) Carrara of Meadville; his grandchildren Camden and Kael Armstrong. Survivors also include his brothers, Michael (Hazel) Hovis and Steven (Jamie) Hovis and his brother-in-law Nate (Andrea) Fox and his sisters at heart, Erica, Michelle, Steph and Emily, numerous coworkers at Meadville Medical Center and his dog, Khaleesi. Visitation for friends and family will be held at Dickson Family Funeral Home, Inc., 123 South Franklin Street, Cochranton, PA on Thursday, September 18 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm- 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev Loren Little. Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
