Bryan R. McCurdy, 66, of Cochranton, died on Saturday, September 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 6, 1959, in Meadville, he was the son of Blair and Janet Henderson McCurdy. He married Carol Freyermuth and together they raised two children, Jessica and Jacob. He graduated from Cochranton High School in 1976. Following graduation, he worked on the family dairy farm until 1996 then began working for Clint Brown and Sons Construction and also Wilson Excavating. Bryan loved to farm and with his wife, Carol, and their children. They bred numerous Holstein cattle that were considered the best in the area. He was very proud of his 1982 Bull Calf Award issued to him at a cattle show in Wisconsin. After his retirement he had a chance to go fishing in Alaska, shoot trap and enjoy the view of French Creek. He was a member of the Meadville Moose, Station 4, the Cochranton Sportsmen's Club, and in his younger days enjoyed racing canoes, riding snowmobiles, especially the grass drag races. Survivors include his best friend and partner of 23 years, Mary Beth Hummel; his daughter Jessica McCurdy of Pittsburgh, and son Jacob McCurdy and his wife, Amber, of Meadville; three sisters, Brenda Wait of Cochranton, Paula Coulter of Meadville, and Jeanne Hart (Chuck) of Cochranton; two brothers, Blair (Bud) Jr. McCurdy (Cathy) and Gary McCurdy (Jenny) of Cochranton; two grandchildren, Jaydin and Jessica McCurdy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on October 9, 2025, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., Cochranton. Celebration of life service will be follow at 7:00pm, with Rev. John Authenreith presiding.
