EDGEWOOD, TX [mdash] Loyce R."Lo" Edgar (Garrett) formerly of Ottumwa, passed away on April 7, 2024, in Edgewood, Texas, at the age of 67. She was born on November 6, 1956, in Ottumwa, IA, to John D. and Forest B. Garrett where she spent her life into her mid twenties and then moved to Texas. Loyce was known for being feisty and strong-willed. She was a loving person and enjoyed spoiling her 18 nieces and nephews, as she had no children of her own. Loyce was a proud "westender" and dedicated her life to a career as a factory worker and was a forklift driver at Madix in Terrell, TX. Loyce enjoyed tending to plants and spending time with her dogs in her free time and put forth a gladiators fight against cancer for 17 years. She is survived by her sisters Peggy Garrett, Benita Garrett, Bonnie Holt (Edward), Terri Taylor (David), sister-in-law Carol (Willis), nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Loyce was preceded in death by her parents John and Forest, husband Phillip O'Banion, and brother Willis. A memorial service was held in Van, TX on Saturday, April 13, 2024. A graveside service will be held at Ottumwa Cemetery, 1302 N Court St. at 11 a.m. on August 2, 2025. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Loyce was cremated and will be laid to rest with John D. Garrett.
