Opened over ten years ago, JW Marriott Dongdaemun is the first JW Marriott property in South Korea. Aside from Korean artist Bahk Seon Ghi’s sparkling acrylic and nylon thread installation suspended from the ceiling, this hotel’s lobby, upon first glance, doesn’t feel so different from its Seoul counterparts. Also known as Heunginjimun Gate, this historic landmark is one of only two of Seoul’s eight gates that once protected the city and survived the brutal Japanese occupation.
