From what I read there is still much too much deforestation going on in the Amazon rain-forests. I would like for any land owners who benefit from what is a natural resource, namely all of the usable land, to pay a tax to the nation for what they are taking from it. Were the Brazilians able to enforce their regulations on deforestation, this kind of tax would reduce the unethical grabbing of the opportunity to convert the forests into sites that can sustain other farming techniques for only a few years before becoming deserts. The Sahara desert was formed thousands of years ago when black goats (which eat even the roots of plants), were permitted to graze progressively over what was previously lush landscapes and rain-attracting jungles, too! Save the trees for the next generations.
