KO file photoSrinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet on Tuesday recommended to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha that the Union Territory’s legislature hold its next sitting in Srinagar between October 13 and 20.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat here.
The recommendation will now go to the Lieutenant Governor, who under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, has the authority to summon the legislature.
If approved, the October sitting will mark the third full legislative session of the Omar Abdullah-led government since it assumed office last year.
As per the Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, there must not be a gap longer than six months between the last sitting of one session and the first sitting of the next.
