Speaking at the inauguration of the Gujarat government’s Startup Conclave here, Shah highlighted the success of the Startup India initiative launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting that India now hosts the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world. “Startup India has made our youth job creators from job seekers,” he said. Today, there are 1.92 lakh registered startups, with 120 unicorns collectively valued at over USD 350 million. He added that 52% of startups are in tier-II and tier-III cities and 48% are initiated by women, while the ecosystem has generated employment for 17.90 lakh people.
