Comment on FKT or Strava CR? by Buzz Burrell

An interesting question, which I will answer: There is a huge difference between an FKT and a Strava CR.
The worldwide FKT site (https://fastestknowntime.com) has about 700 FKTs; every one has curated, to be of special interest, and has followed the basic rules of Verification. The global map and index make them relatively easy for someone to find when looking for a cool new project.
Strava on the other hand, has many, many millions of CR's, with no verification nor qualifications as to significance or meaning.
I love Strava and use it every day, tracking my own PRs and times, and seeing what my friends and relatives are doing, while having to ignore the scores of weird CR's on meaningless Segments that show up on the feed.
A Strava segment CR can be created most days just by typing it out, while an FKT is for the ages.
Both platforms are great; separate but equal!
