Kelvin Clyde Smith of Hemet was arrested Tuesday for allegedly fatally shooting 35-year-old Gabriel Lozano, also from Hemet. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Smith with one felony count each of murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Riverside County court records show Smith was convicted on felony charges related to identity theft in 2019.
