After French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu handed in his resignation on Monday, just 27 days after taking up the post, here's a look at the shortest-serving prime ministers of France’s Fifth Republic. Previously, Michel Barnier (Macron's fifth prime minister) held the record as the shortest-lasting PM of the Fifth Republic, having been in the post for 90 days before being ousted in a vote of no-confidence in December 2024. Third place - Socialist Bernard Cazeneuve, president François Hollande's last prime minister, only served for five months and four days (155 days) in 2016-17 and had, before Barnier, the shortest stay in the premier's Matignon residence.
