Italian word of the day: ‘Pollo’
[]
The Local Italy
But, much like many other Italian words, pollo has more than one possible meaning and can be used in multiple different contexts. Another common expression you’ll find pollo in is conosco i miei polli, which literally translates to ‘I know my chickens’. Though some translation websites and apps often suggest otherwise, the English expression ‘being a chicken’ (meaning being a cowardly or fearful person) cannot be rendered into Italian with essere un pollo.
