Photo: Harry Hondius The 620 mm high entrance in the driving trailer gives wheelchair access via two ramps: one from the high platform and one leading to the 400 mm lower deck after a 90° turn. An intermediate step at 850 mm splits the difference between the car floor at 1 080 mm and a 760 mm high platform, and also serves the 550 mm platforms. Studying other designs of double-deck trainset, it is clear that the only solution enabling wheelchair users to board without assistance is to fit doors in the lower deck at 400 mm above rail and incorporate a small ramp to reach a 550 mm high platform.
