Norman James "Jim" Creighton, 90, a resident of Parc Provence in Creve Coeur, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1935, in Niagara Falls, New York, the son of Norman J. and Gayle (Hancock) Creighton. On May 2, 1959, he married Elisabeth Fairfield of St. Louis, Missouri. They shared 66 years together—full of devotion, shared purpose, and more than a few well-placed laughs. Jim is survived by his wife, Elisabeth "Biffie," and their three daughters: Catherine Marsden (Forrest) of LaRussell, MO; Margaret DeYoung (Mark) of Webster Groves, MO; and Elisabeth Creighton (Edward McFadden) of Minneapolis, MN. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Mariah Marsden, Madeline Babcock (Zac), Creighton DeYoung (Julia), Charles DeYoung, and Oscar McFadden; and his two great-grandchildren, Michael and John DeYoung. He was preceded in death by his grandson, John Finnegan McFadden, (who likely welcomed him to heaven with a hug and a fishing rod). Jim grew up throughout New York State and graduated from Colgate University in 1957 with a degree in botany. After serving in the U.S. Air Force he worked in a variety of industries before finally discovering his true calling on a family farm in Carthage, Missouri, augmented with a second career at Bank of Carthage. Jim was deeply involved at Grace Episcopal Church, and golf was a steady joy throughout his life. After retirement, Jim and Elisabeth traveled extensively by plane, train, balloon, and camel. Jim lived without pretense, led by example, and left behind a legacy of integrity, curiosity, and care. A humble man, he rarely spoke of his own accomplishments or how he quietly changed the lives of many behind the scenes. But the profound impact of his kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
